Why MOTIONSENSE Delivers Stable Streams at Every Event

During the pandemic years, MOTIONSENSE reliably operated more than 500 livestreams of all sizes.

Even though many events have since shifted back to in-person formats, we continue to see strong demand for online streaming — especially hybrid events that connect on-site and remote audiences at the same time.

In this article, we want to share what has helped us keep our livestreams consistently stable, and what event organizers should prepare well before the event day arrives.

1. If You're Checking the Internet on Event Day, You're Already Too Late

The first thing we do when preparing for a livestream is a site visit.

And the first thing we check on-site is the internet connection.

Our priority order looks like this.

① Wired Internet (top priority)

For livestreaming, a wired connection is always the most stable option. During the site visit, we check the distance between the ethernet port and the control station, then prepare cables of the right length in advance. "The port is on the other side of the room" is not something you want to discover on event day.

② Wireless Internet (when wired isn't available)

If Wi-Fi is the only option, we test the upload speed and connection stability in advance. On the day of the event, dozens of people using the same network can easily cut available bandwidth in half, so we always check whether a dedicated line is available.

③ Temporary Internet (when the venue has no internet at all)

For outdoor events or temporary venues with no internet service, we arrange temporary internet as soon as the schedule is confirmed. Installation takes time, so moving early is essential.

④ Bonding Device (for maximum reliability, or as a last resort)

A bonding device combines multiple connections into one, delivering the strongest possible balance of speed and stability. Because it comes with added cost, we recommend discussing it with the client in advance whenever maximum reliability is important.

2. The Number of Cameras Depends on the Kind of Shot You Want

We hear this question all the time: how many cameras does a livestream need?

The answer depends entirely on what kind of visual experience you want to create.

  • Webinar Format (most compact): One wide shot and one close-up, operated by a single camera director. Ideal for small seminars or online-first events.
  • Standard: Three cameras and a dedicated switcher director. For panel discussions or events with multiple speakers, this setup makes transitions much more natural.
  • Full Production: A jib arm, wireless handheld camera, and slider combination. Ideal for large conferences that require broadcast-level production quality.

If you can send us a reference video that shows the look you're aiming for, we can recommend the right setup much more quickly. The more clearly you share the picture you want, the better the final result will be.

3. Even if the Venue Has Audio, Audio Routing Is a Separate Challenge

Even when a venue already has an audio system in place, capturing sound properly for a livestream requires a separate technical setup. Audio has to be routed from the house mixer into the streaming system, and if the mixer is locked away in a rack or located in a separate room, that alone can create major issues on event day. In situations like that, a dedicated audio engineer often needs to be involved.

This becomes even more complex in Zoom-based livestreams, especially when remote participants need to interact with people on-site in real time. You have to manage on-site microphones, presentation audio, and Zoom participant audio at the same time — while also preventing feedback and echo. For this kind of event, we strongly recommend operating with a dedicated audio team alongside the streaming team.

MOTIONSENSE has its own audio equipment and audio engineer. When the streaming team and audio team work as one unit, the difference in on-site response speed is significant compared with bringing in a separate vendor and trying to coordinate everything together for the first time at the venue.

4. Stable Streaming Also Depends on the Computer

The streaming computer matters just as much as the camera or the internet connection. A laptop can be used for livestreaming, but during long-form events, heat buildup can reduce performance and create unexpected instability. This becomes even more important when the production requires high-resolution video output, presentation overlays, captions, and multiple inputs all at once.

To reduce that risk, MOTIONSENSE uses a custom-built, high-performance desktop PC dedicated to livestreaming. It is designed to maintain stable performance through long sessions, giving us the foundation to deliver uninterrupted streams even during demanding event days.

Planning a Livestream? Start With These Four Things.

All of this comes down to preparation. Internet connectivity, camera configuration, audio routing, and the streaming computer should all be decided before you arrive on-site. That is what minimizes variables on the day of the event.

If you're planning an event livestream, share the venue, scale, and the kind of experience you want to create. We'll recommend a setup that fits your event.
